Jews believe that God revealed to the prophet Moses laws and duties that are expected of all Jews. These are recorded in the Torah.

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-19) that God gave to Moses are the framework of how a just society that is close to God could be established.

God judges how each Jew follows the laws. by obeying the laws, Jews are not only fulfilling what God wants but they are forming a close relationship with him.
